The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), represented by Mr Bashir IFO, Vice-President for Finance and Corporate Services, donated items worth FCFA 1 000 000 to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Tokoin on Tuesday, 26 January 2010.
The intervention forms part of the humanitarian activities of EBID. The donation comprising food and non-food items is to be distributed to the children hospitalized at CHU whose number is estimated at 180.
According to Mr Bashir IFO, “the gesture has become a tradition at EBID because each year we choose a health facility in order to assist the children hospitalized there. We are convinced that the gesture will bring some relief to the children”.
The Acting Director of CHU, Mr Kpoti WILSON BAHUN, expressed his gratitude to EBID for the noble gesture. He also provided information on the status of implementation of the health infrastructure rehabilitation and construction project for which EBID granted Togo a loan of FCFA 10 billion on 31 July 2007. Thanks to the financing, a complex is under construction at the CHU Tokoin. Upon completion it will be furnished with modern medical equipment.
