17th Extraordinary Session of ECOWAS Council of Ministers held in EBID

The 17th Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers was held on Saturday, January 20 2018, at the headquarters of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), in Lome, Togolese Republic.

The purpose of the meeting which was chaired by the Chairman of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers, His Excellency, Professor Robert DUSSEY, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Togolese Republic, was to consider the candidates identified by the ad hoc Ministerial Committee set up by the Authority of Heads of State and Government, to propose the next set of ECOWAS Commissioners to replace the incumbent officers whose respective tenures are coming to an end shortly. No communique was issued at the end of the meeting.

Member States were represented by a strong delegation led by a Minister who was accompanied by top Government functionaries which included another Minister, serving Ambassadors and ECOWAS Permanent Representatives.

The top ECOWAS statutory appointees who participated in the meeting included the out-going President of the Commission, His excellency, Mr. Marcel de Souza; the next President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Kassi Jean-Claude BROU; the President of EBID, Mr. Bashir Mamman IFO; the Vice-President in charge of Operations, Mr. Abdoulaye FALL and some Directors from the Bank such as the Secretary General, Mr. Moctar COULIBALY; the Director of the Research and Strategic Studies Department, Mr. MacDonald GOANUE; the Director of the Department of Private Sector Operations, Mr. Manzamesso TCHALLA-PALI; the Director of the Department of Legal and Corporate Services, Mr. Mamadou CAMARA; the Director of Internal Audit and Evaluation of Operations Department, Mr. Olagunju ASHIMOLOWO, the Director of the Department of Administration, Mr, Francis EZIN and the Director of the Department of risk Analysis, Mr. Paul ANGOUA.
